Brief History
Lipetsk Medical College is one of the oldest educational institutions in Lipetsk. Lipetsk medical school was founded in October 1930. At first there were only 3 groups of students at school. The teaching staff consisted only of a Head Master, deputy head teacher and 10 part-time teachers. The first graduation of young specialists was in 1933. There were 65 of them. In 1994 Lipetsk medical school became the basic educational institution. In October 1995 it got the status of a college. Learning process
The course of training at the college covers a period of 3 years for secondary school-leavers and of 4 years duration for those who has finished the 9th form of secondary school. The college trains the following specialists:
The first-year students are extending their knowledge of secondary school subjects. The second-year students study human anatomy, the structure and functions of body tissues and cells, the laws governing the vital activity of the organism, biochemical and regulatory processes within the organism. In the third year emphasis is placed on studying specialized subjects such as Therapy, Surgery, Pharmacology and others. During the fourth year of studies special attention is paid to the organization of clinical training. There are preparatory courses for school-leavers and senior pupils. The course of studies lasts from 1 to 6 months. Lipetsk Medical college organizes medical classes at schools. The pupils who want to get secondary or higher medical education attend these classes. Today Lipetsk Medical College is a modern educational and methodical centre. Modern technologies are widely used in teaching. Scientific conferences, public showings of pedagogical skill, international, republican and regional seminars, exhibitions of students' and teachers' works, professional and sport competitions of students are held on the basis of the college. The college has strong relations with Voronezh Medical Academy, medical colleges and schools of Lipetsk region and Vienna Medical School in Austria. Lipetsk Medical Basic College passed the state attestation in 1977. It has got the licence to carry out such forms of additional education as courses for the certificated specialists, advanced training courses of medium-level medical personnel. The college has a large computer centre. It uses International system "Internet". Publishing centre provides publishing educational and methodic manuals. The teaching staff consists of 64 highly-qualified teachers. More than 80% of them have the first and the highest qualified category.
